ORIGIN AND DEVELOPMENT


Jainism is an ancient religion of India and its beliefs have a strong connection with Hinduism.  Jainism as a religion has existed since the dawn of civilization.

It began in the sixth century Bc, the same time Buddishim was developing
It is starting to grow as a religion in the Western World

It is possible that Buddhism actually developed as a form of Jainism. It has had a tremendous influence on Hinduism through the centuries and vice versa.

The largest communities of Jainism outside of India are found in the US, Canada, the UK and East Africa.
